Bridge History

Bridge was founded on the belief that investment in people, integrity and ethics, focus on customers, and entrepreneurial growth can generate tremendous value for a business and its stakeholders.

We stay focused on long term growth and health of the companies. We have successfully led businesses through a variety of market cycles and conditions and remain steadfast during challenging times.

Bridge and its operating units have often gained on competition in downturns because of its long-term mindset. Unlike many competitors, Bridge seeks to keep key staff on board, maintain customer intimacy, and continue deploying capital to position the business for future growth.

Berlin founded Bridge in 2003 after playing a major role in the building of Hawk Corporation, a Cleveland-based manufacturer of friction products and precision components used in industrial and aerospace industries.

As President of Hawk, Berlin and team were able to build an international leader in the friction material and powder metal markets. With the employee base increasing from 80 to 1600, and sales rising by 12X, significant shareholder value was created, resulting in an IPO and providing him with the liquidity to start his own holding company.
